Meditation

Meditation er, afhængigt af hvilken slags det drejer sig om, en mere eller mindre videnskabelig måde at kontakte ens sjæl og eventuelt med tiden blive et med sin sjæl. Det er  formålet med meditation.  Kun sammen med uselvisk tjeneste udvikler vi os.

1. Følg forskrifterne for den meditation du vælger. Hvis du ikke er kendt med meditation, så find en estimeret og anerkendt organisation. At lære at meditere fra en bog  kan ikke anbefales, hvis man ikke er kendt med processen.

 

2. Uden en god karakter (ikke en perfekt, men en som anerkender at det at være god er essensen af alle religiøse og filosofiske skoler) skal man ikke starte på meditation.  Vær gode mod hinanden - det er derfor vi er her.

 

3. Vær altid opmærksom på om den valgte meditation gør dig glad eller gladere, roligere, mere ydende på en harmløs måde. Vær opmærksom på om du trives med den valgte meditationstype.

Nedenstående er Paul Bruntons oplevelser sammen med Martinus over emnet meditation (på engelsk):

Paul Brunton spent almost four months on Martinus in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The constantly recurring question he had to Martinus, the female interpreter has told, was: how dangerous is meditation? He was concerned about the many letters he had got from relatives and friends to people who were meditating based on the advice in his books. They asked what to do with the meditating persons to help them back to normal again, because they had gone crazy. He asked Martinus again and again about the dangers of meditation and Martinus stated over and over again that the only form of meditation that is totally safe, is sitting down and thinking lovingly of your worst enemy. And he always added: "Yes, just five minutes - many can't manage more!"

Paul Brunton did many notes and planned to write a book, but all his notes were stolen on his way to Cairo, where he stopped on his journey back to India. But in the republication of the Danish edition of his book "The Secret Path", 1977, he added a new note in his preface:

"However, I find it here necessary to point out a warning to all new-beginners in practises of meditation. The abilities that develop by time when one works with meditation, as well as its influence on all different sides of the personality, makes this warning necessary. You shall always combine meditation with serious efforts in improving your character and moral and get rid of all devastating emotions from your consciousness, as hatred, anger and so on, and create balance between the different aspects of the personality. Otherwise there will occur detrimental effects instead of useful". (The quotation freely translated from Swedish Kosmos 10/1990)

Disse transformerede åndelige energier,  forklarer Creme, vil efterhånden opløfte alle livsformer og ændre vores verden til det bedre.

"Det unikke ved dette arbejde," siger Creme, "er dets enkelhed. Det er et perfekt redskab til de meget travle mennesker. Det er sikkert, meget videnskabeligt, ikke-konfessionelt, fri for enhver betaling, og utroligt potent. Det er en tjeneste, hvori vi kan engagere os for resten af vores liv, og derved hjælper vi i den store transformation til en mere retfærdig og medfølende verden. Samtidig kender jeg ingen anden form for tjeneste, der giver en så vidtrækkende og hurtig åndelig vækst. "

Hvordan starter man på meditation?

Sri Chinmoy er en spirituel lærer, som dedikerede sit liv til tjeneste for menneskeheden.

"How to Begin Meditation

From the spiritual point of view, every seeker is a beginner. A beginner is he who has the inner urge to grow into something ever more divine, ever more illumining and ever more fulfilling. The moment you want to make constant and continuous progress, the moment you want to surpass yourself and enter into the ever-transcending Beyond, at that moment you become an eternal beginner.

If you are an absolute beginner, then you can start by reading a few spiritual books or scriptures. These will give you inspiration. You should read books by spiritual Masters in whom you have implicit faith. There are Masters who have attained the highest consciousness, and if you read their books, you are bound to get inspiration. It is better not to read books written by professors or scholars or aspirants who are still on the path and have not yet attained illumination. Only those who have realised the Truth will have the capacity to offer the Truth. Otherwise, it is like the blind leading the blind.

It is also a good idea to associate with people who have been meditating for some time. These people may not be in a position to teach you, but they will be able to inspire you. Even if you just sit beside them while they are meditating, unconsciously your inner being will derive some meditative power from them. You are not stealing anything; only your inner being is taking help from them without your outer knowledge.

In the beginning you should not even think about meditation. Just try to set aside a certain time of day when you will try to be calm and quiet, and feel that these five minutes belong to your inner being and to nobody else. Regularity is of paramount importance. What you need is regular practice at a regular time.
